Musical Theatre

This introduction to musical theater will familiarize students with areas such as music theory, vocal training, choral techniques, creative movement, animation and dramatic arts.  Musical activities incorporating our finely-tuned Orff instruments will help to make this an exciting class. 

In the fall of 2011, the children will be working on the following productions:

Christmas Chronicles - children's musical

“Christmas Chronicles”
Extra! Extra! The Bethlehem Chronicle is in big trouble. If subscribers don’t increase, the newspaper is history! Rock Gibralter (sports reporter), Sandy O’Callahan (social editor), and Scoop Early (Cub reporter and part-time Shepherd) are scouting Bethlehem for a big story. They’ll need a miracle to save the paper and it’s on the way in a manger downtown. This delightful musical has eight songs, clever dialogue, and a touching story that will help you and your students celebrate the wonder of Christmas.

Musical Theatre Coordinator/Director

Monica Stephens, Instructor at The Master's Touch School of Music and Performing ArtsMonica Stephens,
mother of three, is a gifted instructor with an extensive background in performance. Monica holds a Bachelor of Music from UTA and a Master of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University. She has performed on stage with the Regal Opera Company, where she currently serves on the Board of Directors, as well as appearances in “Peter Pan” at Bass Hall, and “The Promise” in Glenrose, Texas.

She has taught musical theatre at Casa Manana , The Creative Arts Theatre School in Arlington, L.D. Bell High School, Grapevine High School, Grapevine Middle School, and Colleyville Middle School and has spent the past five years teaching private lessons as well. She has directed several musical productions including, “Tinny Thumbelina”, “Jack and the Giant”, “The Little Mermaid”, and the “Music Man”. Monica has a complete understanding of the vocal mechanism and teaches a healthy technique across many styles of music. She has also performed numerous times on The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). Monica is a very patient and kind instructor with a warm and winning personality which enables her to create an enjoyable learning experience. She has extensive experience teaching students of all ages and levels. We are very excited to have Monica on our staff and know that her students will thoroughly enjoy the enthusiasm and creativity she will bring to The Master’s Touch.
